Our 2024 festival will be held October 3rd - 6th at the beautiful Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in downtown Clarksburg, WV. Our primary movie screening days will be Friday the 4th and Saturday the 5th. A full schedule of events can be found here.

Films from all across Appalachia are submitted to our festival for consideration We don’t set specific content guidelines, so our program will be incredibly diverse with different genres and themes. We also will have films by first time filmmakers and experienced filmmakers, which makes the festival experience very unique compared to what you might find at the cinema.

Like other festivals, our hope is that you’ll come and enjoy many of our blocks of programming, seminars, Q&As, and other amenities. We will be selling all access passes to the festival for $50 which will grant you access to nearly everything we’ll have on our schedule. Buy Passes

There are a few hotels within a short driving distance of the Robinson Grand. Our recommended hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn in Clarksburg, and you can book discounted rooms there by visiting this link.
Filmmaker Questions

The submission fee is anywhere from $8 to $29 depending on the film category, type, and the deadline in which it is submitted. Please check our FilmFreeway page for accurate information.

We accept short films, features, documentaries, scripted narratives, music videos, student films, and experimental films. As far as content goes, we don’t currently limit any film from submitting based on adult themes or content, however please be aware that explicit content in a film could play a small role in programming decisions.

Our one main requirement is that all films be made by an Appalachian filmmaker, be shot in Appalachia, or tell an Appalachian story.

Notification of acceptance into the festival will go out on August 5th via FilmFreeway. If you are accepted then you will be provided with the opportunity to claim one or more full-festival passes for free. Most films will also be competing to win an award and cash prize amongst the different categories.
